Terms of Use
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Welcome to Backseat Atlas (“Backseat Atlas”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Use apply to your use of backseatatlas.com.
1. Advertising and Affiliates
Some booking, gear, and lodging links pay us a commission, and the site carries advertising. This never determines which places we recommend or how we describe them. See our Affiliate Disclosure and Advertising Disclosure.
2. Comments Policy
Trip reports, corrections, and comments you contribute remain your own, and you grant us a licence to publish and moderate them. Reader tips about conditions and closures are especially welcome — but they are one traveller’s experience on one day, not verified fact, and should be checked like anything else. We remove promotional posts and may close comments on older articles.
3. Copyright Position
Itineraries, route write-ups, maps we have drawn, photographs, and the design of this site are owned by Backseat Atlas or our licensors. Facts about a place are free for anyone to state; our particular expression of them is protected. Quote briefly and link, or ask us first.
4. What We Do Not Promise
All content is provided “as is” and dates quickly. Hours, fees, permits, reservation systems, road conditions, and closures change without notice, and drive times and prices are estimates. Always confirm with the official source before you travel, and read our Disclaimer, which covers driving and outdoor safety.
5. Responsibility and Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Backseat Atlas accepts no liability for accident, injury, delay, cancellation, expense, or disappointment arising from a trip planned around this site or from any operator, park, or business we mention.
6. How You May Use It
Backseat Atlas publishes road-trip itineraries, destination guides, packing lists, and practical notes for families driving across the United States. It is travel journalism and planning inspiration, offered for personal, non-commercial use. You are welcome to plan a trip from it. You may not repackage our itineraries into a commercial product, republish our guides, or scrape the site.
7. When These Terms Change
These Terms may be updated as the site evolves. The date above reflects the current version, and your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
8. Leaving This Site
We link to park services, booking platforms, and local businesses that we do not operate. Their availability, pricing, cancellation rules, and privacy practices are their own, and we are not a party to your booking.
